Sign in to rateIn the book of Genesis, Abram came into the area of Shechem where the Canaanites were living to the plain of Moreh (Gen 12). God appeared to Abram here and promised the land to his offspring. Abram built and altar to the Lord to commemorate meeting with God and the promise He gave. This place would grow to have tremendous significance in the Scriptures.
